Frequently Asked Questions
Megan Michelle Artistry
Are trial appointments required?
Although not required, trial appointments are encouraged! This allows us to meet, discuss your style preferences, and bring your bridal vision to life. The trial ensures that you feel confident and beautiful on your wedding day by providing an opportunity to refine your look beforehand.
What should I bring to my trial?
For your trial, it’s best to arrive with a bare face and clean and dry hair. Additionally, if you plan to wear a veil or any hair accessories on your big day, feel free to bring them along to try on with your completed glam. To ensure the best visualization of your wedding day look, I suggest wearing a white top for a more accurate comparison.
When should I schedule my trial session?
I recommend to schedule your trial session around 1–3 months before your wedding date. By this time, you should have chosen your dress and have a clear vision of your bridal aesthetic. This timing allows us to fine-tune your hair and makeup to perfectly complement your overall look for the big day.
When are you available for trials?
Monday through Friday as weekends are reserved for weddings. All trials are scheduled & invoiced separately from your wedding invoice. Once we confirm availability for your wedding date, we’ll send you a form to submit your trial date availability.
Where will my trial take place?
Trials are held at The Proper Beauty Bar (3039 Jefferson St F, Carlsbad, CA 92008). If you prefer a home or hotel trial instead of the studio, a travel fee of $0.99 per mile round trip from our studio to your location applies per artist.
Can I schedule a trial before booking my wedding date?
You’re welcome to book a trial before officially securing your wedding date. Please note that your wedding date is only fully reserved once the contract is signed and the deposit is received. If you book a trial first, we’ll place your wedding date on our calendar as pending. If your artist receives another inquiry for the same date, we’ll reach out to let you know. At that time, you’ll have 24 hours to confirm your booking and secure the artist with a deposit. If we don’t hear back within that window, the artist may be released to accommodate the other request.
What if I need to cancel my trial appointment?
Trial appointments are non-refundable but may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice or no-shows will require a new booking and full payment
How do I secure my wedding date?
First, submit an inquiry via our website and we’ll confirm our team’s availability. Once confirmed, you’ll receive a contract that includes your personalized estimate for services. Sign the contract to accept the estimate, and you’ll be automatically redirected to pay the 30% deposit. Your date is officially secured once both the signed contract and deposit payment are completed.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, a 30% deposit and a signed contract are required to secure your wedding date. Your booking isn’t confirmed until both are received.
How much time should I allocate for hair and makeup on the wedding day?
We schedule 1.5 hours for each bridal service (hair or makeup) for the bride, and 1 hour per service for each member of the bridal party. We also include time for setup, clean-up, and final touch-ups. A beauty timeline is provided to make sure everything runs smoothly.
What’s the best location for getting ready on the wedding day?
I recommend a private home, Airbnb rental, or hotel room for getting ready on the wedding day. These locations usually provide more space and flexibility with timing, allowing us to start earlier and set up comfortably for hair and makeup.
Can we use my venue’s bridal suite for hair and makeup?
Bridal suites at venues can be convenient, but many don’t open until the afternoon, which may not allow enough prep time if you’re doing a first look or starting photos early. Always confirm when you’ll have access, and consider booking a hotel room, Airbnb, or another getting-ready space nearby if earlier access is needed.
How many services can each artist do on their own?
Each bridesmaid service is allotted 1 hour, and each bride service is allotted 1.5 hours. The number of services an artist can take on depends on the total number of services booked and your getting ready window.
Do you have a minimum number of services required?
We offer two booking options, both available 7 days a week:
- Our Single Bride Hair and Makeup package is perfect for solo bookings.
- Our Bride Plus Bridal Party package requires a minimum of 4 adult services (bride included).
What if I have a large bridal party?
If your bridal party requires more than 4-6 total services, an additional artist would be brought on to ensure everyone is ready on time. Each additional artist added to the schedule incurs a flat fee. Visit our Services and Pricing page for current rates.
When is my final balance due for wedding day services?
The final balance is due 2 weeks before your wedding date. This helps us keep everything organized and ensures a smooth, stress-free experience for you and your bridal party.
Which payment methods do you accept?
I accept most major credit and debit cards worldwide. Cash is also accepted, but please make arrangements with us in advance. Checks are not accepted.
Is tipping included in the price?
Tipping is not included in the service price, but completely optional and always appreciated. If your bridal party would like to tip, they’re welcome to give gratuity directly to their artist or provide a collective tip to the lead artist, who will distribute it among the team.
How do I find the best inspiration photos?
When choosing inspiration, look for photos of people with similar features to your own, such as hair texture, skin tone, and eye color. This helps set realistic expectations and allows your artist to better match your vision. Pinterest, Instagram, and your artist’s website are great places to start.
We kindly ask that you avoid sending AI generated images, as they do not accurately represent natural hair and makeup results.
Can I add more services to my wedding day at a later time?
Absolutely! Just reach out to us to confirm team availability, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.
Can I cancel a service after signing my contract?
Yes, you can cancel a service up to 30 days before your wedding day without any additional fee. However, please note that the 30% deposit is non-refundable and will be retained to cover the reserved time and planning.
Do you charge a travel fee?
Free travel is included for all locations within 25 miles (one way) of the San Diego Convention Center (111 Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101). For locations beyond 25 miles, a travel fee of $0.99 per mile (round trip) will apply
